Nicotek helped me quit smoking with Metro Electronic Cigarettes

You might have seen past posts I had written on my quit smoking series with electronic cigarettes. If not, I highly recommend you do. It has been a while since I have posted something new…mostly because my efforts to “quit smoking electronic cigarette” have been unsuccessful…until now.

I was smoking a little over a pack a day, coughing on a regular basis, and was considering Chantix or something similar to help me kick the habit.

I was recently contacted by a new e-cigarette brand, Nicotek. I hadn’t heard of them, so I was excited when they offered to send me their all-in-one Metro Platinum Kit, and their Metro Menthol Starter Kit to try out.

What’s Included in the Nicotek Metro Starter Kits

The electronic cigarettes were well packaged in an over-sized box, which arrived in two days. The Metro Menthol Starter Kit included 2 Hybrid Cartridges containing 1.8% nicotine, 1 battery, a USB battery charger, and a tin carrying case. The Platinum Kit included everything in the starter kit plus:

1. a second battery
2. 3 more cartridges containing 1.8% nicotine
3. 5 cartridges containing 1.2% nicotine
4. mini car charger
5. mini wall charger

Retail price is $19.99 for the Starter Kits, while the Platinum Kits retail for $74.99. The Nicotek Metro cartridge/atomizers are priced at $9.99 for 3 and are available in Traditional and Menthol flavors as well as Nicotine levels of 0mg, 0.6mg, 1.2mg, and 1.8mg. The Platinum starter kit includes five 1.8mg and five 1.2mg cartridge atomizers in Traditional or Menthol flavor. The cartridge/atomizers were double end-capped as well as shrink wrapped to maintain freshness, and labeled with the flavor type and Nicotine level on both the cartridge/atomizer and the wrapping.

Savings of Switching from Regular Cigarettes to Nicotek Metro Electronic Cigarettes

I estimated that the cost to maintain a pack a day habit using Nicotek Metro was around $1160.57 (before tax). This includes the initial purchase of the Platinum Kit, and taking into account one cartridge/atomizer per day. An estimate of $1688.00 annually for regular cigarettes based on $5.00 per pack (before tax). This gives us a very conservative savings of $527.43 annually…not bad!

Smoking The Nicotek Metro In The Real World

I carried two fully charged batteries topped off with their own nicotine cartridge with me at all times since receiving them. While at work, one was sufficient, with me not having to switch until later in the evening.

I have only had ONE cigarette since receiving the E-cig from Nicotek. I was BBQ’ing and had let my batteries run down. After realizing my mistake, I immediately got them on the chargers. While waiting for a charge, I succumbed to a Pall Mall light.

Quit Smoking Electronic Cigarette
The one trait I really like about this electronic cigarette is the consistency and life of the cartridge/atomizer. From the first puff to the last, the volume of the vapor did not change for me. It was plenty, and it was consistent. I have had others that had very poor vapor, and others that had great vapor volume but were inconsistent from one puff to the next which had me consciously struggling to get that “real cigarette” feel.

Since my Metro E-cigarettes arrived, I have regained my sense of smell, no longer smell like an ash tray, and that persistent cough has disappeared. I also feel much better, and have more energy than before I quit smoking real cigarettes.

If you are looking for an alternative to smoking, I highly recommend you give the Nicotek Electronic Cigarette a try…I did, and I no longer smoke because of it.

Now for what I don’t like…

I really wish they had more accessories to choose from! I like the fact that they provide a USB, wall outlet, and a car charger…that’s three chargers that you receive in the Platinum kit. I just wish they had a standard charger with cord I could purchase, only because all my electronics charge on the same table, and it would be convenient to be able to charge my electronic cigarette in the same area. Luckily, I have a standard charger left over from one of the other brands I tried unsuccessfully, that also works for the Nicotek’s. They really should provide a standard wall charger with cord for their customers.

Secondly, why don’t they offer bulk pricing on nicotine cartridges? From what I see on their site, the only pricing they have is per three count. For three, it’s $9.99. Other brands do offer more selections when purchasing replacement nicotine cartridges, and I hope they incorporate something similar in the future.

Pros

  • Carrying case included
  • Car adaptor included
  • 10 Cartridge/atomizers included
  • One-year limited warranty
  • Vapor volume & Taste
  • FREE shipping on orders over$50.00

Cons

  • No money-back guarantee
  • No bulk pricing on replacement cartridges/atomizers
  • No permanent (standard) wall charger with cord
  • Small accessories selection

Scoring the Nicotek E-Cigarette

  • Price: 4 Stars – At 74.99 for a starter kit, the Metro Platinum kit is middle of the road. There are others that are lower, and others that are higher priced. 5 stars if there were bulk pricing on nicotine cartridges.
  • Value: 4 Stars – Great pricing, once again missing out on bulk nicotine cartridge options.
  • Taste: 4 Stars – The taste was actually very good, and pleasant, and I really like their menthol. This was a big surprise to me.
  • Quality: 5 Stars – I really thought the quality was apparent. The batteries kept their charge, and the nicotine cartridges appeared to be better made than others I have used.
  • Ease of Use: 4 Stars – I would have given it 5 stars if there was a permanent wall charger.
  • Vapor Volume: 4 Stars – Not the most vapor per puff I have had, but definitely one of the more consistent than any other brand.
  • Maintenance Costs: 4 Stars – Really, the only mainteance is purchasing additional nicotine cartridges. If there were bulk pricing, I would have given 5 stars.
  • Purchase Satisfaction: 5 Stars – Lets put it this way…I have FINALLY quit smoking! I also love this product.

Final Thoughts

FINAL JUDGMENT: FOUR STARS PLUS ONE STAR. Because this is the first product that I was actually able to quit smoking with. Highly Recommended. 5 Stars Total!!

UPDATE: Nicotek has stated they are currently working on offering additional nicotine cartridge packages, and we should see something in the near future. This my friend is great news.

Have you seen the movie “Cold Turkey“? Nicotek electronic cigarettes would have been the perfect alternative for this town!

Well I’m 21. Been smoking since I was 15 (so around 6 years). I smoke a pack a day(give or take). I have spent $14,235 on cigarettes. I recently switched over to this Metro Nicotek Cigarette. I now spend $10 dollars (3 cart) twice a week. I figure I’ll vapin this thing for the next 6 years, at the same rate I am now. After 6 years I will spend $6,240….I will have saved $7995. Thats basically a new car or a damn good down payment on one. Even if you have tried a electronic cigarette…this is different. I promise. ALSO I thought it was funny how you mentioned you cracked and smoked a pall mall while awaiting the charge….same thing happened to me at work. Good luck man. I hope to be down to no nicotine by next year.
