The Central Texas airshow was different from the last air show I attended during the hydroplane races in Washington. The air show is held in Temple, TX and this year was its 25th anniversary. There were many static displays, which allowed you to get a feel for the inside of many of the planes that were flying if you wanted.
There were a lot of exciting planes to see at this event. Among the hotly anticipated events was the display of the Aeroshell team. It was something that really captured the audience’s attention. No-one was distracted by eating or playing Partypoker when they were flying the World War II North American Advance Trainer, or T-6, impressing the crowd with their skill and creativity.
Central Texas Airshow
Just one of many planes at the air show held in Temple, TX.
It was also the 25th anniversary for Top Gun!
An ominous sight…a B-2 Bomber doing a fly by. Looks kinda like a Cylon Raider.
The Devil Dog is a B-25 Marine aircraft.
Of course the Yellow Rose, another B-25, made its appearance.
The Texas Raiders B-17 was also among the war birds from past at the air show.
The pyrotechnics caused a little delay, hot Texas day plus simulated bombing runs equals a spreading brush fire.
Fortunately the fire department and emergency crews were ready to deal with the fire before it had a chance to get out of control.
Reno Air Races Crash
A similar P-51 Mustang
There is something about the P-51 Mustang’s.
There is something else about the F-16 Fighting Falcon’s.
Put the two together…and there is a whole lot of something going on!
The P-51 Mustang and the F-16 Fighting Falcon flew together in the air show in Washington, also.
Have you been to an airshow? Let us know!

Hiya Urban Cowboy longtime…
Nice AirShow by the way x~
Hey there, Julliette! Long time no see, how have you been?
The contrast between the old and the new warbirds is really interesting. But I’m guessing they had one thing in common. Bet they were all NOISY.
Hi Patti, yes…it was pretty loud, and HOT.
Those are great pictures! I went to an air show at Andrews Air Force Base (Maryland) last summer. It was really loud and hot- but we didn’t have any fake bombings or fire. I really liked going inside the planes and helicopters.
Hi Skye, air shows can be a lot of fun. It was really hot and loud here, also.
The last air show I went to was at McDill AFB in Tampa. They were letting people sit in one of the planes until a kid hit the eject button…then the shit hit the fan.
UP
That would be crazy!
I’m Loving the B-2 bomber!! Cool shot Big Guy!!
hughugs
Thanks, I have more shots of it overhead…but that one looks the most ominous for sure.
I am afraid I dont know one plane from another and the air show is always in the heat of the summer here….Misery. We lived on air bases when I was a kid and I loved to watch the pilots doing their manuvers. The power zipping around overhead is an awesome sight/sound to see.
Great photos. That looks like a lot of fun.
Nice airshow! Those planes look great! I especially like the P-51 Mustang’s. It looks like a toy plane..hahah
Nice show! I have never been to one but I really would like one day! They organize such air shows every year in Hungary too. I liked the painting on the very front of Yellow Rose with the woman on
