Ten reasons why putting on a condom equals jail time

by The Urban Cowboy on April 9, 2010 · 28 comments

Jail and putting on a condom, everybody’s favorite subjects, right? Maybe not.

A Juneau County, Wisconsin District Attorney Scott Southworth has formally warned area school districts that teachers who inform students how to put on a condom or take birth control pills could end up in jail. Needless to say, this condom condemnation has left teachers, school administrators and parents wondering what the hell?

So would this apply to a parent teaching their child how to put on a condom as well?

Condoms and teens don’t mix

putting on a condom

Why won’t you show me how to use this?

I think Mr. Southworth is really trying to convey a secret or hidden message for all teens to abide by. Politicians can be pretty sneaky, usually practicing the very things they ‘say’ they are against. You know, like affairs, gay sex, embezzlement…ok, I think I’m starting to loose focus. Back to putting on condoms and why we shouldn’t be teaching teens how to correctly use contraceptives.

Lets break it down, shall we?

Minors are not legally allowed to have sex in Wisconsin.

A misdemeanor in Wisconsin is punishable up to nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine.

Sex education would show students how to properly use contraceptives like condoms.

Teaching sex education in Wisconsin would be showing minors how to have sex safely.

Educating minors in the evil ways of contraception equals contributing to their delinquency.

Research has shown that sex-ed classes with abstinence focus can delay sex in teens.

Banning sex education is the only solution?

A is for ‘apple’, because everybody knows teachers love apples, even sex education teachers.

Teens will have sex whether or not they know what the hell they are doing.

Education is the key! Or handcuffs in this instance!

There you have it, I cracked the code! MASTERBATE

RRRRRRR-SOME post!

Very creative…I’m jealous. I looked at the article on this and almost blogged about it, but I’m so glad I didn’t, it would have paled in comparison to this.

Moral opinions aside…reality is reality…kids have been “doin’ it” for years and I think they probably will continue.

Someone needs to explain it to them.

misdemeanor in Wisconsin is punishable up to nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine. now how appropriate is that? 9 months….lol I’m all for sex education, nothing wrong with teaching kids something they will actually use when they get out of school

Do you think Mr Southworth had a strict Catholic upbringing? Love the post.

Welcome Ryan! Mr. Southworth is a Republican (but so am I, got the card to prove it) and a Christian evangelical. Of course, he is opposing a new law that the Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle signed in Feb. that now requires “schools that teach sexual education to adopt a comprehensive approach” (this would include teaching the correct use of contraceptives).

It is also important to note that the Wisconsin Department of Health Services released a statement disagreeing with Southworth’s interpretation.

I guess he would prefer that they get pregnant so that they can teach about creating families? Very narrow minded people.

So I think that either this jackass never had sex when he was a teenager and is now taking it out on today’s teens via the administration….
OR
He’s just a narrow-minded jackass.

Hmm… If you need someone to teach you how to put on a condom you should do the rest of the world a favor and just stay in bed.

Why aren’t we teaching our teens something useful? Like how to remove a bra with one hand!

HAHA! Love your acronym!

Hmmmm… The sex-ed debate… It’s a toughie…

I agree with you- teens are going to have sex no matter what… But, I believe the sex-ed should be left up to the parents…

Think back a couple decades, when teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases were fewer… Who was teaching the kids sex-ed? Their own parents. Or their friends, whose parents taught them sooner.. But you get my point… Where as I feel it’s not up to the public educators to teach our children about sex, I definitely don’t feel they deserve jail time for it…

Just my little two cents worth. :)

Hi there Sarah! I agree with you that the ultimate responsibility of sex education for our children lies with the parents.

The problem lies in the fact that the family unit is no longer what it used to be in the past, IMHO.

Lauren July 29, 2010 at 8:50 am

Ok, first of all, I just found this site off of the Pioneer Woman website and I almost pissed my pants reading this. Hilarious. AND, I’m just gonna go ahead and put it out there Urban Cowboy, you’re really hot. And last, I realize this was written a few months ago but I feel the need to put this comment on here because I have a 4 yr old daughter and am dreading the sex talk one day. BUT, it has to be done, and I do believe it should only be done by the parents. I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing that the teachers were showing them how to do it but at the same time, it should be left at home. I mean honestly, what kid is going to sit there and honestly listen to their teacher showing them how to put a condom on a banana or whatever, and not giggle and show off in front of their friends. I know I would. So in the end, they might actually get more out of it at home! Jail though? That’s a little much. Just my opinion!

Hi Lauren, it’s fantastic you found your way here, welcome! Ha…glad you found some humor in this as well.

Thank you for the compliment…{kissing hand}

I am in complete agreement, sex education is the parents responsibility. Unfortunately, the family unit has been disintegrating through the years, not with everyone, but it is happening.

What about the children that cannot rely on their parents to teach them the difference between right and wrong, let alone educating them in sex?

Gotta do this again,{kissing hand}. :)

Rose August 3, 2010 at 8:41 pm

You can teach a kid how to use a condom doesn’t mean they’ll use it. I don’t see the harm in teaching.

sex education and teaching them how to use a condom would only help in the long run, but then again there is nothing wrong with masturbation =D

Lisa September 12, 2010 at 6:06 am

I know I late but well, that’s the way things go for me. Reading this leaves me feeling Thank God I home school and I don’t have to deal with this type of thing in our school. At our school we have a policy: There will be know sex unless the school principal and the teacher are involved ((that would be me and my husband :) )) Don’t worry though we do talk about sex, disease, and abstinence! The importance and the value of the gift they have to share that should not be thought of lightly. I could go on but I wont.

Love your blog! I followed you here from Pioneer Woman

Whoops! I should have reread that comment before I clicked submit. I would delete it if I could. There are to many missing words, homophones that are wrong and misspelled words.

YICKS!!!!! I hate it when that happens! Sorry!!!! It is still early here and I have had only one cup of coffee. ONLY ONE!!! I need more!

Terry in Texas September 22, 2010 at 10:04 am

Just found your site…such interesting and fun stuff! I worked in a jr. high in southeast Texas for 10 yrs. I had morning duty one day, which usually wasn’t very exciting, until I checked the hallway and found condoms stretched over several of the classroom doorknobs! Seems our kids did need some sex-ed! And you’re right about the family unit..too much technology babysitting kids today instead of quality family time. And btw…you are hot!
