Usually the term seeing red evokes a negative connotation in ones mind.
The term seeing red was inspired from the use of red capes by bullfighting matadors, which seemed to irritate and anger the bulls in the arena. However, this is far from the truth as a bull is colorblind.
So what is it about the color red that fascinates some, while frightening others; especially when it comes to those with red on the head (redheads)? Lets take a look see at red!
A brief history of redheads
I like the color red!
I’m not going to bore ya with all the details, but if you want you can follow the red brick road for your informational enjoyment on redheads.
If you in fact took the leap over, there are a couple surprising facts about redheads that even I didn’t know! Besides the obvious, like combatants with red hair were believed to be fierce warriors; or damsels with red hair were thought to be sexual dynamos.
If the two were to ever get together, it was believed to rain brimstone and fire! Even the dragons would keep their distance.
Okay, I made that last one up, but it sounded good.
I would check out the link if you want to find out who thought redheads were vampires; or why they were sacrificed at the alter at one time; or how a redhead would bring a premium price as a slave. That’s just a taste of ginger for ya…oh yea, and where a redhead is nicknamed ginger…besides on Gilligan’s Island of course.
Red on the feet can’t be beat
My feet hurt, but they look so good in red!
For all you women out there that thought beer was the great equalizer, guess again! A recent study from the University of Rochester has concluded the color red may be your best lure.
“Red, relative to other achromatic and chromatic colors, leads men to view women as more attractive and more sexually desirable. Men seem unaware of this red effect, and red does not influence women’s perceptions of the attractiveness of other women, nor men’s perceptions of women’s overall likeability, kindness, or intelligence. The findings have clear practical implications for men and women in the mating game and, perhaps, for fashion consultants, product designers, and marketers.”

I’m no scientist, but I will give you a mans perspective…Yea, I like RED! So the next time your coloring your hair, you might want to give red a thought.
Redheads – the real minority?
I feel so alone!
With redheads holding only 2-4% of the total population, a case could be made that they are the real minority.
Enough of that though, if you followed the previous links you have probably already come to that conclusion. If not, you can always take another trip down red link road!
Heres a couple more red links for ya!
Heres a couple useless facts on google searches on red:
- 42,900,000 google pages – seeing red
- 2,930,000 google pages – redheads
In summary, I like redheads…but than again, I like brunettes and blondes too!
…I’m just saying!
