I’m Alive

Kenny Chesney is probably my favorite musician. His songs definitely speak to me, and I’m Alive is yelling at me right now.

I met someone, a true cowgirl, and it was wonderful. “I’d like to thank my lucky stars”, is how I feel that our paths have crossed.

For your viewing pleasure, I present Kenny Chesney performing I’m Alive.

So damn easy to say that life’s so hard
Everybody’s got their share of battle scars
As for me, I’d like to thank my lucky stars
That I’m alive and well

It’d be easy to add up all the pain
And all the dreams you sat and watched go up in flames
Dwell on the wreckage as it smolders in the rain
But not me, I’m alive

And today you know that’s good enough for me
Breathin’ in and out’s a blessing, can’t you see?
Today’s the first day of the rest of my life
And I’m alive and well
I’m alive and well

Stars are dancin’ on the water here tonight
It’s good for the soul when there’s not a soul in sight
This boat has caught its wind and brought me back to life
Now I’m alive and well

And today you know that’s good enough for me
Breathing in and out’s a blessing, can’t you see?
Today’s the first day of the rest of my life
Now I’m alive and well
Yeah, I’m alive and well

I’m Alive

As for me, I’d like to thank my lucky stars

What is it you are feeling lucky about?

I love Kenny Chesney too – “I Go Back” is my song with Skye.

And yes, we’re two straight girl friends who have a song.

And that’s completely normal.

At least that’s what I tell myself.

Hey Megan, nothing wrong with that!

Thought I’d drop on over here after seeing you over at Real World.
Kenny C. has great music…..but is he gay?? I mean, I NEVER see him with a lady. But, again, still has great songs.
do we get to hear more about the cowgirl??

Reply

The Urban Cowboy August 27, 2010 at 7:29 pm

Welcome wendy, and feel free to explore! I really have no clue as to whether or not he is gay, as I only listen to his music. I’m not very big in all the entertainment news and gossip.

Possibly :)

citymom2 August 27, 2010 at 6:06 pm

Hey TUC, glad you’re alive and very happy for you and the “real cowgirl”. If you’re kinda quiet we’ll understand why

I don’t always listen to videos on blogs because I read over a hundred each day. I listened to this one and it’s a beautiful song. I don’t do much country when it comes to music but I am going to go over to Amazon and get this one. I like it, thank you for sharing. I am lucky to be breathing today and everyday.

Alive and kickin’ by the sounds of it! :) I couldn’t be happier for you and your cowgirl, Urban Cowboy! That’s fabulous! And so is Kenny Chesney’s song – he has such a fabulous voice.

Reply

The Urban Cowboy August 29, 2010 at 7:21 pm

Thank you kindly, Talon…Kenny’s songs really do speak to me, not all at once, but I always seem to find one that embodies an emotion I might be feeling at any certain time. :)

Michele August 28, 2010 at 12:02 am

Don’t hate me but I’m not much of a country western fans. Well, except Willie but he really doesn’t count. I did love the sentiment in the lyrics. Thanks for sharing.

Reply

The Urban Cowboy August 29, 2010 at 7:22 pm

I could never hate ya, Michele…country music may not be for everyone, yet Willie does seem to enjoy a broad spectrum of fans.

Jessica @ One Shiny Star August 28, 2010 at 4:50 am

I am a big country music fan, but recently I tend to prefer older music, from Johnny Cash… up to about the mid 90′s with Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks. The new stuff often sounds to much like “pop” which, if i’m in the mood for country, just doesn’t hit the spot. :)

Reply

The Urban Cowboy August 29, 2010 at 7:24 pm

Yea, Jessica…I also like the older stuff. Hank Jr., Charlie Daniels Band, etc., all good stuff. :)

Jennifer August 28, 2010 at 7:12 am

I love kenny’s music too…and for probably some of the more obvious reasons….

Reply

The Urban Cowboy August 29, 2010 at 7:24 pm

Donna (Texas) August 28, 2010 at 7:54 am

…..hummmmm…Am I to understand you have a NEW interest in your life and you didn’t tell your “mother” first???Hahahaaa….
GOOD FOR YOU!!! See there??? NEVER walk backwards little love! Like I told you…it’s not behind you…you’ve already been there.
I hope, She….Dances….

Angie August 28, 2010 at 8:19 am

So glad to hear you met someone!! As for Kenny, I’ve never heard this song before. I LOVE IT! The video alone made me feel like I was missing out big time! Like I need to run out and buy tickets for his next concert. Plus Dave Matthews, LOVE Dave Matthews. Thanks for the into to the song, I’ll be adding it to my playlist. Maybe it will be my new theme song while i’m out running, trying to get Giselle’s booty HA! ;)

So glad you enjoyed this song! I have yet to hear one of Kenny’s that I didn’t like. I have a feeling your booty is just fine. ;)

Great song, and I especially like hearing the upbeat in your words.
The things I feel lucky to have are too numerous to count, but “alive and well” is right up there at the top.

Reply

The Urban Cowboy August 29, 2010 at 7:32 pm

Yes, Patti…to be “alive and well” I most certainly am thankful for as well.

Momo Fali August 29, 2010 at 6:10 pm

The Urban Cowboy August 29, 2010 at 8:03 pm

Though I was truly “thanking my lucky stars” for our paths crossing, like most things in my life, she became a shooting star. Burning brightly in my heart for a short period of time, only to die out and disappear from my life. Maybe next time.

I don’t think I will post anymore about the women who float in and out of my life…it’s kinda depressing, and I am tired of putting my energy into things temporary.

Roxane August 30, 2010 at 12:49 am

This post looks eerily familiar…

So I heart you!

Kenny? Not so much. I have to clear the air, though. Some of his older stuff speaks to me, as well as this song, but he’s gotten a little beach-bum surfer-dude flakiness going on lately that kind of weirds me out. And he looks sickly and old without that hat, so ICK. Music wise, though, he’ll do in a pinch.

Reply

The Urban Cowboy August 30, 2010 at 9:14 am

Hi ya Roxane…why do you think I wear the hat? ;)

Shrinky August 30, 2010 at 9:51 am

Ooooooh, never heard this one before, and I love it! Yup, sums it up, doesn’t it? We all usually have much to be grateful for.

I really like this song! Unfortunately the country stations around here stopped playing it for some reason.
