Electronic Cigarette Kit

January 13, 2010

Recently I had purchased an electronic cigarette kit, and reviewed it here. One of the main selling points was the 30 day money back guarantee.

As the salesman made his pitch about the electronic cigarettes, he would follow it with a, “…and if you decide the electronic cigarette isn’t for you, we offer a 30 day money back guarantee.”

I gotta say, I was excited about the prospects of going “smokeless” so to speak.

Great, sign me up!! So what your saying is, I can try your electronic cigarette for 30 days, and if I don’t like it, get my money back? Yep! OK, lets get a starter kit.

With nothing to loose, I plunked down $100.00 for the Smoking Everywhere Gold One Edition starter kit.

As my world opened up to electronic cigarettes, I began researching and reading reviews. I also made note of what my own experience was with the Smoking Everywhere brand. What I came to realize is that I wasn’t satisfied with this particular brand…my experience seemed to reflect the low ratings I had found online.

No problem, I will simply take my kit back for a refund and purchase another. Sitting prominently on the Smoking Everywhere website is the banner which reads, “30 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.” This seems to be the standard in the electronic cigarette industry.

With my e-cigarette kit in hand, I made it back to the kiosk in the mall where I made the purchase. As I approached, I was asked if I needed help.

me – “Yea, I would like a refund.”
smoking everywhere – “What seems to be the problem, is it damaged, or broke?”
me – “No, I’m just not satisfied with your kit, the battery looses its charge mid-day, and the nicotine cartridges do not last as long as you had stated, also, the vapor smoke isn’t consistent.”
smoking everywhere – “Sorry to hear that…but we don’t do refunds.”
me – “WHAT?? You personally told me I had nothing to loose, because of your 30 day money back guarantee.”
smoking everywhere – “Sorry, but I never told you that, what I did state is that we provide a 1 year warranty,” as he pulled the warranty card from the cigarette box, “see?”
me – “Yea, I know it has a warranty, but you had personally told me I had 30 days to return for a refund if I didn’t like it.”
smoking everywhere – “Well, we do state that on our website, but it is misleading and we are probably going to remove that. It says we offer a 30 day money back guarantee, but only if the product hasn’t been used.”
me – Thinking to myself, WTF? “OK…no problem…”
smoking everywhere – “Tell you what I will do, I will exchange the battery, and give you a free pack of nicotine cartridges.”
me – I have to admit, I was a little pissed at the fact that I was at the least mislead, and more than likely flat out lied to. “Do you have a business card?”
smoking everywhere – “No, but here, let me write down my name…and this is my personal cell number.”
me – “Alright, thanks.” I headed over to Bath & Body Works where my girl friend was busy buying smelly stuff. “Hey honey, didn’t the e-cig guy say I had a 30 day money back guarantee?”
girl friend – “Yea, I was right there, I remember, why, he’s not taking it back now?”

To be fair to Smoking Everywhere, he was pleasant, he did exchange my battery, and he also gave me a free pack of nicotine cartridges. BUT he did tell me at the time of purchase that I had nothing to loose because of their 30 day money back guarantee!

Getting back to my computer, I immediately set out for the Smoking Everywhere website. Sure enough, they have a BIG banner saying, 30 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. I click on the banner, and this is what they state, “We do not accept opened, used or damaged product…”

You have got to be F’ing kidding me! I then made my way over to the website of one of the competitors, Green Smoke. This is the company that had received high reviews, and where I planned on buying my next starter kit. Curious about their 30 day money back guarantee, I clicked the banner and this is their take, “We are so confident that you will be satisfied with Green Smoke that we back it up with a 100% money back guarantee. If this product doesn’t work for you, we will return your money. No questions asked!”

If you are thinking about making the switch to electronic cigarettes, DO NOT purchase from Smoking Everywhere!

Do you feel you have been mislead during a purchase? Let us know!

Darn, I was hoping it would work for you.
I’ve often felt mislead when buying things. Usually things that “promise” 100% to work. They rarely do.

Keep trying, I’m sure there is a product out there or on the way that will get you where you want to be.

Good Luck!

From reading the various electronic cigarette reviews, I plan on ordering a starter kit from Green Smoke…AND their 30 money back guarantee is NOT misleading.

Thanks for your comment :) I admit I’m a total cigar novice and lean towards ones that are infused with coffee.

that is totally crazy. Totally misleading!!! I wish it wasn’t so hard to quit, I’m working on it still. I have good days, only a few ciggies, and then I completely lose it and smoke a pack a day. I’ve tried most of the products out there and hate them all!!
If only I’d known back when I started how hard it would be to quit. I applaud your continuing efforts!!

I was unsatisfied with purchases several times. i never trust verbal promises now, it must be in writing, legitimate writing from the company, Not the salesperson.

Thanks for visiting Secret Story Time!

Ahhh that sucks big time. That always seems to happen – you think you know the rules, and either they change them, or they were just plain misleading! I hope you will like the new place!
