Mount Rainier

I was returning home when I came across what I thought was a perfect spot to capture Mount Rainier digitally. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I thought I would put that to the test…so to speak.

When I look at this particular picture, the feelings of steadfast and enduring come to mind. Whatever comes its way, Mount Rainier is able to weather the storm, and in the end…endure for another day.

Mountains like this transport me back at a dizzying pace to my childhood summers spent travelling through the Rockies with my parents on camping trips. Unfortunately, my Dad is one of those guys who’s like a horse with his nose perpetually turned toward the barn door, so we would camp one day, drive two. My Mom was always oohing and aahing over the mountains, while I anxiously waited in the backseat with my brother for the Gravol to kick in. Fun times! ;o)

P.S. Thanks for your note about my post yesterday. I have a feeling your imagination will be much more flattering than any photo might be.

Happy Friday!

Beautiful picture.

Looking at it gives me the feeling that the world is so huge and I only take up such a small space in it. But I mean that in an entirely positive and amazing way. I look at it and wonder what kind of life is brewing on that mountain. And I remember that I have so much left to explore.

“immense spiritual presence” comes to mind. It reminds me of the spiritual stories of the Indigeous Australians, the Aborigines, who refer to the “Dreamtime” when the creation of sacred places, land, people, animals and plants, law and custom occurred. The supernatural Beings, or Totemic Ancestors, resembled creatures or plants, and were half human. They moved across the barren surface of the world. They travelled hunted and fought, and changed the form of the land.Sometimes their spirits turned into rocks or trees or a part of the landscape. These became sacred places, to be seen only by initiated men.
