Long Live Cowgirls

The Horse Heaven Round-Up Rodeo started at the Benton Franklin Fair last night and runs four days straight ending August 29. Rodeos are great way to enjoy some good ole fashioned cowboy and cowgirl fun. Through all the events, there is something that stands out for me.

Long live cowgirls!! Need I say more?

Have you attended a rodeo this year? If so, what is your favorite event?

–>I haven’t been to a rodeo in years. The best one I saw was the Calgary Stampede when I was reallllllyyyyyyyy young. I insisted that I Needed a pair of cowboy boots before returning to Virginia. I was 11.

You know we’ve lived in San Antonio for 3 years now and we have yet to go to a rodeo. They may kick us out at this rate huh? I have friends that compete in the IGRA and there’s a local chapter that is having a rodeo this weekend but (sadly) we won’t be able to make. Of course the IGRA isn’t one of the ones you’d normally be oogling the cowgirls anyway right?

I haven’t actually ‘been’ to a rodeo lately (actually it’s been a few years) but I feel like I go every year when I visit http://www.thepioneerwoman.com website and watch her ranch compete.. I really need to find one around here in El Paso :/

You know I love me a good rodeo! And Houston has one of the BEST: Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. We go every year. From the cook-off to the rodeo to the carnival it rocks!

And I have George Strait in the back of my mind singing, “How ‘Bout Them Cowgirls”

Love that song!

It’s been years, but I do love a rodeo. Except when someone gets hurt. Ouch.
Enjoy the Fair and Rodeo! -tammy

HoustonGurly ~ Funny you mentioned “How ’bout them cowgirls” one of my favorite songs…I used to sing it to my wife, and is my ringtone.

Tammy ~ Yea, they are fun for sure!

Love me some George all the way. My fave rodeos are the small town ones where you get up close splashed with muck and all. Sundre or Ponoka Alberta are great ones. Bullriding and calf roping are my fave events.
