You’ve heard the saying before, cowboys don’t cry. Well, I’m here to tell ya that’s a lie! You might not see us cry, but cry we do. I’m not talking bout wasted tears either, where every little problem in life deserves a full blown tear session, no sir. Cowboys are a different breed of man. We are tough, resilient, compassionate, caring, and yes, even sensitive.
A sensitive cowboy? What the? Yep, you heard me right. What do I mean by this? A true cowboy will not betray his heart.
I’ve cried when my brother died, when my girlfriend died, and most recently when my wife said she had sent me the divorce paperwork. Do I cry in front of everyone? Do I lock myself in a room with bon bons watching a cheesy soap? Nope, but when I’ve experienced an emotional loss, the tears did appear.
I’m just sayin’…
If anyone says I’m a girlie man because of this…I’ll tell em,…so what?

Beautiful blog! I have seen very few men in my life cry – my brother when his wife left him, my father when we put my cat of 17 yrs to sleep (pretty sure he was crying for me) -
These days its just me that seems to be doing all the crying! Keeping the faith!

Can we please just give all men the permission to cry when they need to? Cowboys, macho men, real men, strong men, true men, tough guys, biker dudes, all dudes… Caring what others think of the tears…that seems girlier to me.

When I was younger, I dated a cowboy or two, and one showed me his more sensitive side than the other… He is also the only ex-boyfriend from HS that I keep in contact with to this day. His wife and I are friends and when they come to town, they make it a point to come by my house. And when my dad passed away, he was the second person I called…the first was my ex-husband… Cowboys are great men!!
