Army Rangers

December 7, 2009

My son is an Army Ranger stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA. Ever since he was a little boy, he wanted to be a Ranger. Funny how some of us know exactly what we want to grow up to be at an early age, while others spend their whole lives trying to answer that question.

Deploying three times in the past to the middle east in support of our war on terrorism, he loves what he does. This Sunday he deployed for a fourth time.

I didn’t know the military recruited at such a young age.

Here the Ranger to be is sporting one of my old berets.

I was able to get together with my son and his Ranger friends a couple days before they deployed. These young men are the “real deal”, and brave as hell. Oh yea, Rangers are pretty fun too.

My son and his girl friend. She has been through my sons last deployment, a woman that is able to sacrifice and support their man through a military deployment is special indeed.

–>Great pictures of your son both then and now. My husband was (is?) a Ranger before he became a Green Beret. We were looking at his graduation picture from Ranger school just the other day and laughing at how young he looked 20 years ago. I hope your son stays safe. As I tell all my military friends before deployment, come back the way you left – in one piece!

Thank you for your service and also for raising a warrior. My son is in the 1/75, and just about to return from his first tour. Let’s just say I have more gray hair this Christmas! My son’s vocation was also apparent from a young age. I tried my best to talk him out of it without success.

Hey Deb ~ thank you, that’s exactly what I tell em too.

Polly ~ Now my sisters little boy is saying he has to join when he is old enough because of his “families military heritage.”

You must be very proud. I have to say though, he looks scarier as a kid, all those weapons.

Love the picture of when he was little! He’s turned into quite a handsome guy. My nephew is in the army and deployed in Iraq right now. I will keep your son in my prayers while I pray for all the other men and women out there fighting for our freedom.

My brother is one of those people who always knew what he wanted to be when he grew up. Me, on the other hand…..I’ll get back to you. Your son & his friends are drop dead handsome, as well as brave. I hope they all come home safely and stay for a while. My thoughts & prayers are with you & your family.

My son also left that day from Ft. Lewis, for his second tour. They have to be together! He and his brother also knew at a very early age what they wanted to do, complete with all the camo cloths and building their first guns out of legos. An Army Ranger and an Army MP, and three deployments later, I couldn’t be more proud of them. The thing I noticed the most was how totally happy the guys looked in your photo, that is a great feeling.Be very proud and I will pray for all of them. Be safe Rangers.
