The Lovely Bones

March 4, 2010

Set in the 70’s, The Lovely Bones is about Susie Salmon (Saoirse Ronan), who at fourteen was murdered by a sexual predator; “she has never been kissed and will never grow up”.

Her body is never found, but her consciousness goes to a place known as ‘the in-between’, where she watches as her family tries to come to terms with her loss, and also tries to discover what happened to her.

Her father, Jack (Mark Wahlburg), becomes so obsessed with finding out what happened to his daughter that he ends up in a hospital after stalking a man into a field and getting beat up for his trouble.

Her mother, Abigail (Rachel Weisz), cannot face what has happened and has to take some time away from the family.

Abigail’s alcoholic mother, Grandma Lynn (Susan Sarandon), comes to stay while she’s away.

Her sister, Lindsey (Rose Mclver), frustrated with the whole situation, focuses her attention on a neighbour, George Harvey (Stanley Tucci), who she is convinced has something to do with Susie’s disappearance.

Through it all, Susie watches her family as she tries to help them and herself move on.

The reason I am talking about The Lovely Bones is because of the recent story of Chelsea King, who has recently met a similar fate. Another beautiful soul who was taken before her time, like so many others. At least her murderer has been apprehended.

sexual predators
BUT GET THIS…he had been previously labeled by psychiatrists as a candidate with a strong propensity to be a repeat offender. So why the hell was he released from prison to begin with? This piece of excrement has done nothing but bring sorrow and pain to others. In my opinion HE HAS NO PLACE ON THIS GODS EARTH!

I am so disgusted with these sexual predators! I ask myself why on earth would a HUMAN BEING commit such atrocities towards another?

Because they are NOT human…these predators cannot even be classified as animals!

I know what I would do to these freaks of nature if given the opportunity! Unfortunately, I understand I will never get the chance. So what to do? For one, inform myself as to who I need to be aware of, and pass that information on to anyone and everyone.

There are two websites that I have found to be very informative, providing much needed information on registered sex offenders:

  1. The National Sex Offender Public Website
  2. Family Watchdog

My favorite out of the two is Family Watchdog, simply because it provides a map of the area searched showing the listed addresses of each predator along with their corresponding pictures and classifications.

I couldn’t believe how many sexual predators were in my area!

I highly recommend everyone to do a search in your area. Our best defense against these freaks is to know who they are and where they are.

A Pressing Day

February 23, 2010

I strut confidently, entering the dimly lit room that is all too familiar, yet never the same. My blue and yellow bag draped by my side tugs at my shoulder, as if implying it wants down. Finding my spot I oblige it with an uncaring toss.
People everywhere, some wanting to be [...]
